Jonny's First Prayer in Church

Jonny was assigned to give the opening prayer in Primary yesterday.  I received an email earlier in the week, letting me know about this assignment.  I immediately began getting Jonny ready.  I told him that he got to stand up on the stool and say a prayer into the microphone for everyone in Primary.  We also talked about things that he could say.  Jonny wasn't scared at all!  As soon as I mentioned the microphone, he was excited!  (I should have known that would catch his interest since he loves all things mechanical or with moving parts!)  When it was his turn, he climbed right up on the stool, adjusted the microphone and said the things that I whispered to him.  He was nice and loud, unlike some of the Sunbeams that are so scared that they whisper or hide so you can't really hear them at all.  In fact, when we were finished and going to sit down, Jonny said, "I want to do it again all by myself!" Way to go, Jonny!

Jonny's a Sunbeam!

Jonny became a Sunbeam on Sunday.  No more nursery!  I've been talking to Jonny about this for a few weeks, about how he was going to go in with the big kids and sit on chairs and sing songs and have fun.  He was okay with it but then on Sunday, he woke up saying that he was going to go to nursery and blow up balloons.  There was no talking him out of it.  He was still talking about going to nursery clear up until the end of Sacrament Meeting.  I had to go teach my Sunday School class so Chris got to take him into Primary.  He didn't throw a fit about going in and he stayed the whole time.  I peeked at him after I was done teaching my class and he was sitting on the chair with his Sunbeam class.  It probably helped that one of his Sunbeam teachers was a nursery teacher and they moved her up with the kids.  The other teacher is Sophia's mom, and we babysit Sophia so Jonny knows her.

This was our conversation on the way home:

Me:  "Did you like to be a Sunbeam today?"
Jonny:  "I didn't listen."
Me:  "Did you have fun sitting on the chairs with the big kids?"

Jonny:  "No."
Me:  "Did you sing some songs?"
Jonny:  "No."
Me:  "What did you do in your class?"
Jonny responded by making a mad face and I gave up on the conversation!  We'll see what this Sunday brings!

Playing with Christmas Presents

Jonny had a lot of fun opening Christmas presents this year.  He especially liked this loader from Papa Gary.  When Jonny opened it, he said, "I've wanted one of these!"  I've let him play with them in the store but I never planned to buy one because it's one of those toys that make a LOT of noise!  Jonny takes it everywhere, including anywhere we go in the car.  We had to draw the line at church though.  It can stay in the car but it definitely can't go in with us!

Jonny got this light saber from Uncle Andrew.  I guess Jonny snuck out of bed and got it because when I went in to check him that night, he was snuggled up with it!

Jonny got this cool tool set from Aunt Jennifer.  When Jonny put everything on one day, I told him he looked like the little guys on Despicable Me.  Jonny had to check himself out in the mirror and then ran to get the movie.  We then had to watch the movie and Jonny wore his goggles while he was watching.  It was pretty funny.
