Happy Easter!

It's been a rainy weekend, but luckily we had just enough of a break to have a quick Easter egg hunt in our yard with Uncle Jack's step-grandchildren. It was Jonny's first Easter egg hunt and after trying to stop and eat the first couple of candies, he caught on pretty quickly!

Elmo Pajamas

Jonny got Elmo pajamas from Grandma Vicki for Christmas. He's big enough to wear them now so we pulled them out for the first time Thursday night. Jonny was so excited to have Elmo on his pajamas! He ended up wearing his Elmo pajamas for three nights in a row! This morning, since Chris and I were sleeping in, we pulled Jonny into bed with us when he woke up. After a little while he started singing, "La la la la, la la la la" and we burst out laughing and then joined in! Jonny was singing Elmo's theme song from Sesame Street! We've never heard him sing it before! Pretty soon, he was singing all of the words, but the only one we could hear clearly were the "la, la's" and "oldfish" (goldfish)! Jonny's going to be really sad tonight when he discovers that his Elmo pajamas are in the laundry!

What a big boy!

We took Jonny in for his two-year-old check-up on Monday. He's a healthy little boy. He's up to 27 pounds and is 33 inches tall. While we were visiting with the doctor, Jonny wanted to play with the stethoscope. The doctor let him have it and Jonny promptly put the two hearing pieces in his ears and put the chestpiece on his daddy's stomach, like he had seen the doctor do with him. The doctor then started talking to us about how there are not IQ tests for little kids but that it seems that Jonathan is developmentally advanced and how he will probably enjoy puzzles and things of that nature now but that we don't need to be the kind of parents that push their kids too fast. So, it seems that we've got a smart little boy on our hands! (But we didn't need the doctor to tell us that--we knew it already!!) By the way, this is a picture of Jonathan on one of our latest walks. He will endure the stroller for only so long now and then he thinks that he needs to be the one to push it around!

Talking on the Phone

Jonathan's talking has really taken off over the past week. He is echoing all kinds of words and is stringing words together. Today, while I was doing dishes, Jonny said, "Wanna help." His imagination has really taken off lately, too. I caught him talking into an old, dead telephone last weekend and having quite a conversation with Grandma. Fortunately, I was able to convince him to talk again so that I could video it!

Guess Who's Two?

Jonathan is two years old! He had quite a surprise for his birthday this morning.....about eight inches of SNOW!!

Jonathan was still in his pajamas, but he wanted to get his "hovel" and help his dad shovel the snow!
I made Jonathan a cookie monster cake for his birthday. His favorite part of the cake was blowing out the candles. We relit the candles and let him blow them out three times.

When Jonathan was finished with the candles, we let him dig into the cake. He tried taking a bite, but he liked sticking his spoon in it better. He took one bite of cake and then he was done.

We gave Jonathan a set of toys that has a dump truck, loader, plane and boat. He also got a red car from Uncle Jack. Happy birthday, Jonny!
