The Incredible Hunk

Aunt Stephie gave this shirt to Jonathan and boy, she couldn't have been more right! Jonathan is a hunk! We've had so many people tell us what a "pretty baby" Jonathan is. Chris wishes people would call him "handsome" instead. You know, "because he's a boy!" (But Chris himself isn't above calling him a "sweet" baby!)

Pouty Lip

Yes, Jonathan has a pouty lip! We don't see it too often (yet). Our best chance of spotting it is when he's ready to get out of the bathtub!

Right-handed?

I know it's probably too early to tell, but I'm predicting that Jonathan will be right-handed. He reaches out with his right arm more than his left arm. When he gets excited, he'll sometimes get that right arm swinging up and down like he's waving or trying to hit something! (And you might notice that he does have a blue hand and foot in the bottom picture--it was for scrapbooking purposes, poor kid!)

Jonathan's First Camping Trip

My dad's family held their yearly family reunion this weekend. It included camping so Chris and I decided to be brave and sleep in a tent with a 3-month-old. Jonathan actually slept better than I did! He slept until 5:00 a.m., but I was constantly waking up to make sure he was warm enough (and of course, he always was so I missed out on sleep for nothing). We also went hiking with our cousins so Chris carried Jonathan in the sling. Saturday was extremely hot so we left after the pot luck lunch because Jonathan was starting to get hot, tired and fussy! But...not too bad for the first camping trip!

YEA!

We did it! This little guy slept pretty much the whole night long! He was asleep and in bed by 10:30 p.m. and didn't wake up until 5:50 a.m.! Wow! It's amazing to get several hours of sleep in a row! We'll see what tonight brings...

Jonathan is a lot of fun at bath time now. He loves it! And Chris usually ends up soaked because he encourages Jonathan to kick his legs!

Grabbing the Burp Cloth

Jonathan will hold onto our fingers (especially as he is eating) but other than that, the only thing that he can hold onto very well is the burp cloth. And of course, after he grabs it, he has to eat it!

Happy 4th!

We didn't go to any fireworks shows this year because Jonathan is still pretty little. We were also afraid that the loud booms would scare him. As it turned out, we were putting Jonathan to bed while people were setting off fireworks in the neighborhood. When a particulary loud firework would go off, he would jump until he was asleep enough that it didn't bother him any more!

Jonathan is getting so alert! He's just learning that he can move his arms so he's not good at getting them to go where he wants. Occasionally, he accidentally made the toys on this mobile move. But you can see that he was really concentrating!
