The Hot Water Heater

We woke up Tuesday morning to no hot water, so that evening brought the fun of replacing the elements inside the tank that heat the water. We had to drain the entire tank of water so we attached the garden hose to the tank and let the water run outside. Jonathan thought that was great because he's been itching to turn on the outside faucet and play in the water ever since we pulled the hose out this spring. (We've had to keep a wire wrapped around the handle of the faucet or else we find Jonathan outside with the water running full blast!)

Jonathan especially liked trying to squirt us or the dog or the chickens. He loved playing in the water!

The only bad part was that he ended up getting really cold so we had to throw him in the bathtub! But since we had no hot water, we had to heat up pots and pots of water on the stove to put in the bathtub. Boy, I'm glad I didn't live 150 years ago. I really appreciate a working hot water heater!

The Toothpaste Incident

What an innocent looking little guy! Well, just look a little closer and you'll see ...

TOOTHPASTE! In Jonny's hair, on his sleeves, and on the front of his shirt! I also found toothpaste on the bathroom floor and on a little table in the living room. The toothpaste on the table is what alerted me to this incident in the first place. I got a phone call one day that took a little longer than normal and Jonny took full advantage of me being distracted. When I walked into the living room, I could see something smeared across the table. I didn't know what it was until I found the tube of toothpaste on the floor and a little toothpaste on the recliner. I walked into the bathroom and found Jonny's toothbrush on the floor. It looked like this incident started when he tried to put some toothpaste on his toothbrush.

I then tracked Jonny down and saw what he looked like. The best part was this glob of toothpaste on his head! What a kid!

Playing with Cars

Jonny has started to get interested in playing with toys more and more lately. He's never played in his room much until now, and I'll find him in his room a few times a day. It's fun to find him with his toy cars all lined up in a row.

A Snow Day

We finally had enough snow last week that it warranted getting out Jonny's snow pants for the first time. It was one of those experiences that reminded me of just how much he has grown over the past few months. The pants still fit but just barely. Jonny didn't like how tight the straps were over his shoulders so we zipped him up but left the straps down.

Jonny had a great time in the snow. I found him belly-down, playing in the snow several times, but his favorite thing by far is still eating the snow.

There was still enough snow left the next day to build a snowman. Carrots are one of Jonny's favorite snacks and he just couldn't understand why you would put a perfectly yummy carrot in some snow and leave it there. Consequently, Jonny had his own carrot to munch on and then the snowman was allowed to have one!
