Ready for church!

Jonathan is getting good at grabbing our noses. On occasion, he has grabbed my hair. Chris decided to trim his mustache back a bit because those little fingers sure can pull!

Four Month Checkup

We took Jonathan in for his four month checkup today. Here are the current numbers: height = 24 inches; weight = 14 pounds, 5 ounces; head = 17 inches. That puts him in the 25th percentile for both height and weight and the 50th percentile for his head size. As for everything else, it's all normal: flipping over, reaching out for things, turning head to noise, turning his head 180 degrees to watch something, etc. Poor Jonathan also got his next round of immunizations: one oral and three shots in the legs!

Video for Grandma Vicki

Grandma Vicki wasn't able to watch the video of Jonathan, so we're trying again!

Some Pictures

We picked up a different sling for Jonathan to ride in. It works really well and Jonathan can sit up in it better because it's not as deep as our other one.

Jonathan is getting better and better at being able to use his hands. This little crinkly book is one of his favorite things to play with right now. And of course, whatever he gets his hands on goes into his mouth!

Jonathan likes to sit in this little chair so he can see what's going on.

Jonathan went to his first parade last weekend. Even though it was during his morning naptime, he stayed awake the whole time! In fact, he stayed awake pretty much the whole weekend because he wanted to watch those cousins of his! He was worn out by Sunday, let me tell you!

Jonathan also got to see his first fireworks last weekend. I thought he would be scared or would jump at the loud sounds, but he didn't! There were several loud booms at the end that made me cover my ears, but they didn't even bother Jonathan! It was so cold that we had to wrap up in blankets and put a hat on Jonathan while we watched the fireworks.

Flipping Over

Jonathan has flipped over several times now! He's getting good at holding his head up, but he still doesn't really like to be on his belly. Flipping over has been more accidental than on purpose so he gets really frustrated when he can't make it onto his back. He hasn't figured out how it happens. Those hands are pretty distracting, too. If he puts his head down, those hands are right there, ready to go in his mouth!

Four Months Old!

Jonathan is four months old today! Jonathan laughs and "talks", especially when we change his diaper or take him for a walk. My uncle, who lives next door, has a 5-year-old step-granddaughter who can get Jonathan to laugh his head off! (I think it's partly because of her high-pitched little-girl voice, plus she acts silly just for Jonathan.) We're going to try and get it on video because it makes us crack up! Jonathan lost interest in rolling from his back to his stomach so we have been focusing on making sure he gets enough belly-time so he can strengthen his neck and shoulder muscles. He has been so close to flipping over from belly to back but hasn't made it yet. He's recently taken a liking to standing up while we're holding him on our lap. He's still wearing size 0-3 month clothes but is close to moving up to the next size. We'll see what he weighs when we take him in for his next appointment!
